What the Twitter GIF downloader preserves

The Twitter GIF downloader keeps the source MP4 bytes returned for an animated GIF post, together with the original post link and available dimensions. Its optional GIF conversion is capped at 8 seconds and 30 frames so the browser can finish without a media service.

The local conversion does not add a watermark, upscale the animation, or transcode HLS. If the browser cannot decode the MP4, the original source download remains the fallback.

Why does my post show no GIF?

The public response may contain a normal video, no media, or a GIF whose source is unavailable. The Twitter GIF downloader filters for animated GIF media instead of treating every video as a GIF.

Can I download a GIF from a private or deleted post?

No. Protected, deleted, or temporarily unavailable posts cannot be recovered by this tool. Open the original post to confirm that it is publicly accessible.
