Tweet to TXT

Extract and clean plain text from any Twitter/X post. Features automated t.co tracking link removal, whitespace normalization, and UTF-8 Unicode preservation for frictionless notes and LLM prompts.

Generates clean, readable plain text with custom formatting: remove t.co links, normalize linebreaks, and include author metadata.

How to convert a tweet to TXT

  1. Paste a public post link

Copy the specific Twitter or X post URL from your browser address bar or share sheet. A profile or search URL cannot identify an individual post.

  2. Configure text formatting

Choose whether to include metadata headers, expand or remove t.co short links, and normalize multi-line spacing.

  3. Copy or save the text file

Click Copy Clean Text to paste directly into your notes, or click Download TXT to save an offline UTF-8 text file.

Text cleaning algorithms & whitespace normalization

Raw text scraped from Twitter is notoriously messy: it frequently contains invisible zero-width spaces (U+200B), non-breaking spaces (U+00A0), trailing tracking URLs, and erratic CRLF line breaks. TwiFlux applies three deterministic cleaning passes:

  • Tracking link stripping: Detects and removes trailing https://t.co/... short links appended by Twitter for attached media, while preserving legitimate outbound reference links.
  • Newline compaction: Replaces triple or quadruple line returns with standard double newlines (\n\n), preventing bloated vertical gaps when pasting into Markdown editors.
  • Unicode safety: Retains multi-byte UTF-8 glyphs, including international scripts, accent marks, and emojis, without byte corruption.

Plain-text workflows: terminal CLI and LLM prompting

Clean plain text is the ideal format for token-efficient LLM ingestion (ChatGPT, Claude, local Ollama models) and terminal CLI utilities:

# Read tweet directly into clipboard on macOS:

cat tweet.txt | pbcopy

# Pipe into local LLM prompt via Ollama:

cat tweet.txt | ollama run llama3 "Summarize the core claim in one sentence:"

Tweet to TXT questions

How does this tool handle t.co short links in plain text?

Twitter wraps all links inside opaque t.co redirection wrappers. TwiFlux provides live options to either strip redundant trailing t.co short links for clean reading or preserve destination URLs without polluting your text file with tracking redirects.

Does the TXT export support Unicode, emojis, and international alphabets?

Yes. Files are encoded in strict UTF-8 without byte-order marks (BOM). Emojis, CJK glyphs, Arabic right-to-left scripts, and mathematical symbols are fully preserved without garbled character encoding (mojibake).

How are erratic line breaks and spacing normalized?

Twitter posts often contain mixed CRLF / LF line feeds, non-breaking spaces (U+00A0), and multiple empty lines used for visual spacing. Our text cleaner collapses repetitive blank lines down to a clean paragraph break (\n\n) and trims trailing whitespace.

Can I copy the cleaned text directly without downloading a file?

Yes. The interface includes an instant Copy Text button with real-time character and word count statistics, allowing immediate copy-paste into Obsidian, Apple Notes, Google Docs, or terminal pipelines.
